Purpose:
Repairing and adapting the city to the impacts
of climate change is a key priority in the council’s 2030
Carbon Neutral Programme. is one of the council’s key
commitments with an ambitious target to become a carbon neutral
city by 2030. The Climate Risk and Vulnerability Assessment (CRVA)
and its associated pieces of work are the first step in identifying
Brighton & Hove's specific vulnerabilities to climate change
impacts and demonstrate strategic adaptation work to ensure B&H
builds resilience to the impacts of climate change. This report
updates members on the work that has been progressing to date, to
deliver on this important priority area for Brighton & Hove and
in making the city - it’s residents, communities,
infrastructure and economy more resilient to climate change and
extreme weather events.
Decision:
That Committee:
1) Notes the climate adaptation work progressed to date as set out in paragraphs 3.0 to 3.8.
2) Notes the recommended actions detailed in the city’s Climate Adaptation Action Plan report, as set out in Appendix 2.
3) Agrees the next step as set out in Table 7 of Appendix 2 to integrate actions into the work of the council.
