1. That the Reading Strategy and its approach to improving reading across the city be agreed.
Reasons for the decision:
To improve reading levels across the city through a variety of programmes, working across a range of different partners. The improvement of reading levels underpins skills development and access to economic and social opportunities. Reading also broadens people’s horizons, encouraging understanding of different cultures and ways of life, and so supports community cohesion
