Agenda item - Review of Political Balance 2026/27

25.1    Councillor Hewitt introduced and formally moved the report.

25.2    Councillor Hill spoke on the matter.

25.3    The mayor put the recommendations as detailed in the report to the vote which was carried.

25.4    RESOLVED:

1)    That Council appoints its committees with the sizes and allocation of seats between political groups as set out in Appendix 1 to the report.

2)    That Councillor Nadia Barton Ahmad be appointed to the People Overview & Scrutiny Committee.

3)    That Council appoints three Members to the Sussex & Brighton Strategic Authority Audit & Governance Committee and three Members to the Sussex & Brighton Strategic Authority Overview & Scrutiny Committee as set out at Appendix 2

4)    That Council notes the in-year changes to appointments following consultation with the Leader, made under delegated powers as set out at Appendix 2.
