Agenda item - Sexual Establishment Licensing Policy Progress Report

Extract from the Licensing Committee meeting held on the 24^th June 2010, together with a report of the Director of Environment (copy attached).

15.1         Councillor Cobb introduced the report and stated that council approval was sought to enable the adoption of the provisions introduced by Section 27 of the Police and Crime Act, which related to sex establishments.  She also noted that the revised policy would come into effect on the 19^th November, the day after the next Licensing Committee meeting.

15.2         Councillors Lepper and Fryer welcomed the report and Councillor Fryer suggested that further consideration needed to be given to the cost of licensing both sex shops and sex establishments.

15.3         The Mayor noted that the report had been moved and put the recommendation to the council with the inclusion of the date of the 19^th November.

15.4         RESOLVED:  That the amendments made by Section 27 of the Policing and Crime Act 2009 to Schedule 3 of the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1982 shall apply to Brighton and Hove with effect from the 19^th November 2010.
