Member appointment to the Sussex Inshore Fisheries & Conservation Authority
Report of the Acting Director of Strategy & Governance (copy attached).
Minutes:
38.1 Councillor Oxley introduced the report and noted that the Sussex Sea Fisheries Committee was due to be replaced in April 2011 by the Sussex Inshore Fisheries & Conservation Authority (SIFCA) as a result of legislation. The new SIFCA was due to operate in a shadow form up to March 2011 and the Council had been asked to nominate a representative to the Shadow Authority. He therefore wished to put forward Councillor Kemble as the council’s representative as he already served on the Sussex Sea Fisheries Committee.
38.2 Councillor Mears formally seconded the nomination.
38.3 Councillor Mitchell noted that Councillor Davis also served on the Sussex Sea Fisheries Committee and had a keen interest in the area. She therefore wished to nominate Councillor Davis as the council’s representative to the SIFCA.
38.4 Councillor Hawkes formally seconded the nomination.
38.5 The Mayor noted that two nominations had been moved and therefore put each nomination to the vote, following which he declared that Councillor Davis had been appointed as the Council’s representative on the SIFCA.
38.6 RESOLVED – That Councillor Davis be appointed to the Sussex Inshore Fisheries & Conservation Authority for the remainder of the municipal year.
