Vote of Thanks to the Retiring Mayor

The Mayor will call on Councillor Mac Cafferty to move a vote of thanks for the retiring Mayor.

Minutes:

5.1            Prior to taking the remaining items on the agenda, the Mayor stated that in view of the meeting being held virtually, he would call on the Leaders of the Groups to indicate their Group’s position. He would then seek confirmation by acclamation from the Groups whose Leader indicated how they intended to vote and any Member of the Group to indicate a different position. He would then ask each of the Independent Members to confirm their vote.

 

5.2            The Mayor also noted that the Group Leaders were being asked to give an indication of their Group’s voting intentions and were not casting votes on behalf of their Group. Any Member wising to vote differently to their Group was asked to indicate a wish to be called by using the instant messaging facility.

 

5.3            The Mayor then invited Councillor Shanks to move a vote of thanks for the previous Mayor, Councillor Alexandra Phillips.

 

5.4            Councillor Shanks moved a vote of thanks to Councillor Phillips as the retiring Mayor for her services to the city during her term of office.

 

5.5            Councillor Mac Cafferty formally seconded the motion.

 

5.6            The Mayor then put the motion to the vote.

 

5.7            Councillor Platts confirmed that the Labour Group were in favour of the motion and the Labour Group confirmed that they were voting for the motion.

 

5.8            Councillor Mac Cafferty confirmed that the Green Group were in favour of the motion and the Green Group confirmed that they were voting for the motion.

 

5.9            Councillor Bell confirmed that the Conservative Group were in favour on the motion and the Conservative Group confirmed that they were voting for the motion.

 

5.10         Councillor Fishleigh confirmed that she was voting for the motion.

 

5.11         Councillor Janio confirmed that he was voting for the motion.

 

5.12         The Mayor confirmed that the motion had been carried.
