Appointment of the Deputy Mayor for Brighton and Hove for the Municipal Year 2020/21

The Mayor will move the appointment of the Deputy Mayor for the municipal year 2020/21.

 

It is proposed that Council elects Councillor Mary Mears as Deputy Mayor for the municipal year 2020/21 and that she be re-elected as Deputy Mayor in May 2021 for the municipal year 2021/22 (serving a total of 2 year term.)

Minutes:

6.1            The Mayor moved that the Council appoint Councillor Mary Mears as Deputy Mayor for the forthcoming municipal year.

 

6.2            The motion was seconded by Councillor Bell.

 

6.3            The Mayor then put the motion to the vote.

 

6.4            Councillor Platts confirmed that the Labour Group were in favour of the motion and the Labour Group confirmed that they were voting for the motion.

 

6.5            Councillor Mac Cafferty confirmed that the Green Group were in favour of the motion and the Green Group confirmed that they were voting for the motion.

 

6.6            Councillor Bell confirmed that the Conservative Group were in favour on the motion and the Conservative Group confirmed that they were voting for the motion.

 

6.7            Councillor Fishleigh confirmed that she was voting for the motion.

 

6.8            Councillor Janio confirmed that he was voting for the motion.

 

6.9            The Mayor confirmed that the motion had been carried and declared that there being no other nominations, Councillor Mary Mears be duly elected as Deputy Mayor of Brighton and Hove for the forthcoming municipal year 2020/21.

 

6.10         Councillor Mary Mears made and signed her Declaration of Acceptance of Office as Deputy Mayor.

 

6.11         The Mayor then called a short adjournment at 5.20pm.

 

6.12         The Mayor reconvened the meeting at 5.30pm.
