Light Touching Parking Controls Portslade South
The roads West of Church Road (A293) in South Portslade border the current Parking Control Zone X. Since the introduction of Parking Control Zone X, Eastbrook Road and the roads South of Eastbrook Road have seen significant displaced parking, and increases in cars owned by non-residents parked for long periods of time on the streets.
As a result, residents often struggle to park their cars on their streets, and vehicles are commonly left in potentially dangerous positions on corners, due to parking congestion.
Light touch parking measures would remove the incentive for non-residents to leave their vehicles on the street for long periods of time, freeing up parking capacity for residents. The light touch nature of the controls would also still provide flexibility for visitors and tradespeople to park when visiting or working on the street, without being at risk of fines or increased costs from parking charges.
