West Way resurface the verges and road edges

We the undersigned petition Brighton & Hove Council to urgently improve the road surface and verges along West Way. This heavily transited road suffers from excessive car parking on the grass verges, creating muddy, uneven conditions that pose serious dangers, especially to elderly people, children, and those with disabilities. Recent reports highlight falls due to the poor surface, making it difficult and hazardous for vulnerable individuals to access vehicles safely.

Key Problems

- Cars parking on the green verges turn them into mud pits, worsening with traffic and weather.
- The degraded surface increases slip risks for pedestrians, including kids playing nearby and elderly residents.
- Disabled people and families struggle to enter/exit cars without risking injury on the uneven ground.

Proposed Improvements

- Resurface the verges and road edges to prevent mud and enhance stability, similar to successful upgrades on nearby roads.

These changes will reduce accidents, make West Way safer for accessing vehicles, and uplift the Hangleton area overall.
