Council response
The Cabinet Member for Children & Young People has provided
the following response:
The Council is delighted that the principal has reawakened your
community spirit and that the college is now moving forward under
strong leadership as evidenced by the recent rise in GCSE results.
The Council also wishes that every member of the community can have
the opportunity to grow and flourish.
The proposal for PCC to become an academy was put forward earlier
in the year and an Expression of Interest was submitted to
Government in July. At this point plans for future academies were
reviewed by the new government and the proposal for PCC was put on
hold.
The council, as co-sponsor, and the Aldridge Foundation remain committed to their initial proposal and believe that this will bring about acceleration in pace of change at the college and a continued improvement in the achievement of high academic standards. The council also believes that this change will help achieve the aspirations you have highlighted even more quickly.
Discussions continue with government and we anticipate a decision being taken regarding the proposal for PCC to become an academy towards the end of the year.
Should the proposal go ahead and following recent successes at the college it is sincerely hoped that the college principal will apply for the post of principal of the new academy.
