Dyke Close Parking Chaos
Our bins are very often not collected because the bin lorry
cannot get down the road due to badly parked cars- the bin and
recycling drivers themselves have complained about this to their
managers.
There was an incident where there was a fire on the corner house of
Dyke Close and the fire engine was unable to get down - luckily no
lives were lost but the damage was more extensive due to the delay
in getting the fire truck down. What happens if this happens to
another house and lives are lost?

Council response
Councillor Muten, Cabinet Member for Transport, Parking and Public Realm responded at Full Council on Thursday 24th October 2024:
Thank you Vanessa for your petition requesting resident parking permits in Dyke Road Close. I can very much appreciate your concern and particularly as it’s gone on for such a time. On news of your petition come to Council earlier this week, I took the opportunity to briefly visit Dyke Road Close to help me better understand your concern.
Car parking and access by larger vehicles requiring access, such as bin trucks and fire engines, could readily be impeded by poor parking. I also followed this up within the Council's parking services.
There is a parking scheme priority timetable being compiled with
areas which have come forward requesting a parking scheme. In
response to your petition presented today, we will add Dyke Road
Close to this timetable to join existing Zone P.
Officers will be sending in this timetable to me as Cabinet Member
for consideration for approval later this year and we're very keen
to support a public consultation with the residents of Dyke Road
Close. So thank you again for coming here today.
