This reports seeks approval of a new Playing Pitch Strategy for 2025 - 2041. The strategy is an assessment of cricket, football, hockey and rugby playing pitches across Brighton & Hove and reviews current and future demand to enable strategic planning of the city's sport pitches.

Consultation process

Steering group consulted throughout the Playing Pitch Strategy's preparation and included representation from Sport England, The Football Foundation, Sussex FA, The England and Wales Cricket Board, Sussex Cricket, England Hockey and Rugby Football Union as well as Brighton & Hove City Council's Parks & Leisure, Healthy Lifestyles, Planning and Education services. Local affiliated sport clubs and leagues were consulted through an online survey, site visit or phone call to ascertain each sport's assessment of need. This consultation process was undertaken throughout Spring - Summer 2024.
