Local Authority kennels
The Environmental Protection Act 1990 imposes
on local authorities a statutory duty to care for stray dogs. This
is currently provided by in-house animal wardens using private
kennels in Crawley and an out of hours service based in Hailsham.
The proposal is to end both contracts and build and provide
in-house kennels at Hangleton Bottom as part of the redevelopment
works to accommodate City Parks and the Animal Warden
Team.
